Yes, that’s right! Intrepid!
From how we are being called upon to lead ourselves—to how we show up for our loved ones and friends—to the formal or informal leadership we exercise in our work and the world—this is a worthy descriptor!
Intrepid means being bold and brave.
You might be thinking that descriptor seems a bit over the top right now.
But I invite you to think otherwise.
We are living in extraordinary times of very rapid change. It’s like we are being initiated, and the pressure is intense.
Whether we want it, or like it, or not: the fundamental choice before us is the quality and constructiveness of our response.
Getting out of bed in the morning, facing uncertainty, yet another day of isolation or perhaps work in a high-risk environment, holding it together for your family, holding it together for your business, organization or team, somehow finding space to refill your own energy bucket, and even striving to thrive despite the challenges…it all takes courage!
And grace.
I love the saying: “Courage doesn’t mean you don’t have fear. Courage means you don’t let the fear stop you.” That, in my book, is being intrepid.
So, yes, in your own unique way, you are being bold and brave. You are being intrepid. You are carrying on!
I hope you are recognizing and reaching out when you need support. And that you are cutting a little slack sometimes for others—understanding that everyone, our children included, is trying to find their way.
